THE WEEKLY SNATCH 4

I'm not sure whether it was John Peel or Bob Harris who said that 'punk rock attracts a certain type of person - those with a short attention span and very little'....something or other

So here's a quick snapshot of my weekly highlights up til 16th June

It's all about the vinyl addiction....

THE BOYS
The punk rock menopause album was released in 2014, but who can resist a limited edition marble vinyl chock full of class? Erm, not me.  The production is first rate, each one of the 13 tracks on the album are first rate punk-pop.  Power chords and melodies seamlessly intermingle with catchy choruses and tribal drum beats.  I don't care that six years is hardly a benchmark anniversary of the initial release, this is vinyl for the collection and has a whole host of classy songs to calm those hot flushes and the sweaty nights.

UNKNOWN ERA
I'm breaking my own rules here, talking about previously reviewed stuff, but the album arrived this week, and it is an absolute thing of beauty.  It looks good, it sounds good and by golly it does you good.  Now get some Unknown Era in your life and get your feet moving on the dance floor.

THE SCRATCH
Would you look at the state of 'em!  The album cover harks back to the heyday of the Bee Gees, but don't let that distract you, The Scratch are 4 lads who don't appear to take themselves too seriously, but in a relatively short space of time they have garnered a big following in and around Ireland.  They have a reputation for putting on energy filled, raucous gigs, with songs full of irreverent humour and after the initial 'what the fuck' moment, the sound just draws you in, it's fresh, loud and catchy as hell.  It's not punk, it's primarily acoustic and it's, wait for it, metal-ish (there, I've said it) as well.  I bought the vinyl, (two tri-colour discs, 11 tracks) and it came with digital download too.  And here's a thing - it's riding high in the charts already.  I've added a video, I think that The Scratch will be the darlings of late night TV and the mainstream pretty quickly.
